Welcome to MHCGS

The Mid-Hudson Classical Guitar Society was formed in February of 2010 by guitarists Russell Austin, Gregory Dinger, and David Temple, and luthier William Kramer-Harrison.
Our Mission is to increase knowledge and awareness of the classical guitar in our community and to share and enjoy the music of the classical guitar.
MHCGS meets about six times each year at the Morton Memorial Library in Rhinecliff, New York.
We host performing artists, master classes, lectures, and theme programs in which guitarists from the Hudson Valley region are invited to perform.
MHCGS is also a social and professional network for guitarists and lovers of the guitar. We invite everyone to participate.
MHCGS is a not for profit organization (501c3) operating under fiscal sponsorship of Arts Mid-Hudson Inc. formerly the Dutchess County Arts Council.

The Mid-Hudson Classical Guitar Quartet was formed in the fall of 2021 by several members of the MHCG Society, Greg Dinger, Russ Austin, Maureen Newman, and Richard Udell, who had worked and played with one another in various configurations over the years. Their repertoire is drawn from Greg's arrangements of music originally written for solo guitar or other instruments (including voice) and adapted for guitar ensembles. Genres range from classical to Tin Pan Alley to rock.

The quartet's program for June 12 is their second concert, and will feature an array of compositional forms, including sonata, etude, and fugue by Scarlatti, Sor, and Mozart; contrasted with songs & vocal pieces by Sor, Gibbons, Gershwin, McCartney, and others.
